Wenger confirmed that Alex Hleb wont we playing through the middle all season. I think we all agree that Hleb has done really well here and two goals already this season says a lot. However Arsene’s right in saying that Robin can’t be alone up front in all games, sometimes its better to have two up front. Here’s what Wenger said:
“Alex likes to play through the middle, but I must say if you ask Steven Gerrard or Tomas Rosicky or any of these kinds of creative players then they all say they want to play there. However I cannot isolate Robin van Persie up there the whole year. It does not work on a longer period. It can work in some games but it cannot be the basis of your game. You need two strikers.”
Adebayor is set to make his first appearance of the season on Saturday and I expect it to be him and Van Persie up front, especially with these latest quotes from Wenger. It’s going to be a really tough game this weekend, we really cannot underestimate City. They’re a young side full of confidence, belief and energy and they’ve just had a great min over rivals Man United. They will be coming down to London thinking they can cause an upset. We’ve got to pull together and not let that happen.
If Ade isn’t 100% fit the there’s Eduardo, who scored for Croatia last night, who will be ready and willing to step in. Also there’s the hungry Bendtner who’s desperate for games and would love an opportunity like this. His Denmark lost 4-0 Ireland; Nick hit the crossbar but couldn’t manage a goal. Also Lehmann’s Germany beat England at Wembley last night, I didn’t see the game so I don’t know how well he did. Do you? The good news is, no new injuries to report.
The only other news really is on Gallas’ injury. He came out with quotes saying he’d be out until October but it appears he was talking about the national side and that three weeks we were told by Arsenal still seems correct. The French coach, Raymond Domenech wanted his team doctors to treat Gallas but Wenger insists that his treatments remains under our hands.
