Arsenal could be about to make a £6million offer for Celtic keeper Artur Boruc before the end of the transfer deadline.
Talks have already reportedly taken place between the two sides over a switch for Poland's World Cup keeper and it is now thought a deal may go through sooner rather than later.
Arsene Wenger has been on the look-out for a new keeper for a while and although he has decided to give Jens Lehmann, whose blunder on Sunday almost handed Fulham three points, another year at the club, the search for a new number one continues at the Emirates.
Wenger has signed Poland number two Lukasz Fabianski over the summer but he could find himself pushed down the pecking order list by his compatriot.
Celtic would not be happy to see their first choice leave before the end of August unless they already have a replacement in mind.
