The German is guilty of making two horrendous errors in the first three games of the season, both of which could have cost the Gunners vital points.
Arsenal’s number one gained international recognition during the 2005-06 season when his goalkeeping heroics helped Arsenal to a European record of clean sheets, as well as performing admirably for Germany in the World Cup.
However in the first game of the season against Fulham, Lehmann failed to deal with a back pass and allowed striker David Healy to slot home from close range after barely a minute of play.
Thankfully for the 37-year-old two late goals won the game for Arsenal and sparred the hapless keeper’s blushes.
During the next game in the Premiership against Blackburn Rovers, Arsenal were 1-0 up when Lehmann fumbled a tame shot from David Dunn, the ball slipping through his hands and into the back of the net, and the Gunners going on to draw thew game 1-1.
Lehmann was omitted from the squad that beat Manchester City at the weekend, however according to Arsenal it was due to an Achilles injury rather than his poor run of form.
But reports in the Daily Star suggest that the keeper was furious at being axed from the squad, saying he was fit to play before storming out of the training ground.
According to the paper, Lehmann held crunch talks with Arsene Wenger over his future, the results of which may be seen before the transfer window closes.
