Gael Clichy has revealed how he his heart stopped for 15 seconds during an operation to sew back on a finger.
The Arsenal left-back survived the cardiac arrest when he was a 15-year-old apprentice at Cannes. He had the ring finger on his right hand ripped off when he attempted to jump over a gate during redevelopment work at the French club's stadium.
"The ring I was wearing became caught on a spike. Basically it was ripped off," Clichy told the Mirror. "I needed an operation to have sewn back on.
"Football and life can pass you by very quickly, as I know only too well - and I will always have this finger to remind me you should always enjoy today because you never know what may happen tomorrow.
